Who We Are
Dr. Scott Eilers
PsyD, LP
Dr. Scott Eilers is the founder and the chief executive officer of the North Star Psychological Center. He oversees all of the programs and treatments offered at this clinic. He is also the creator and primary facilitator of all group programming. He does offer individual therapy as well, although he currently has a lengthy wait list. Dr. Scott hosts a YouTube channel where he describes his unique strategies for treating mood and anxiety disorders. He also hosts a podcast titled “The Psychology of Depression and Anxiety” and is the author of the book “For When Everything Is Burning.

William (Will) Young
My name is William Young and I am currently an intern doing my final semester of my Clinical Mental Health masters program at the University of Iowa! My counseling style uses a lot of Rogerian, Gestalt, Culinary Therapy, and CBT to help work through whatever my clients are facing. I believe that counseling is a team effort and I love having the honor of being apart of someone's healing. I work with adults and adolescents as well as support individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community. Some of my interests include cooking, exercising, playing video games, and staying up to date with pop culture movies and shows. I look forward to working with you if you decide I am a good fit for you!
Quinton (Quinn) Drake
My name is Quinn Drake, I am an employee at North Star Psychological Center as a group co-facilitator. I have completed my undergraduate education at the University of Iowa with a focus in psychology and human relations. I have a diverse work background in the field of mental health, leading and co-facilitating groups focused on mental health in inpatient hospital settings, as well as outpatient settings such as mental health and chemical dependency centers. I am very passionate about helping others develop the skills they need to face the challenges of life and succeed in the areas they want to improve.
Sydney Murray
I am an intern currently finishing up the last semester of my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Iowa. I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents and group therapy with colleagues. I utilize a collaborative approach and place heavy importance on developing a safe and authentic relationship with each client. I mainly use Cognitive-Behavioral and Gestalt approaches. However, I strive to honor each individual’s uniqueness and recognize that different approaches will work for different people. I am passionate about helping others live the life they want to live, work through life’s challenges, and improve their relationship with themselves.
Leah Schneider, LMHC
My name is Leah Schneider. I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 15 years working in the mental health field and a master's degree in rehabilitation counselor from the University of Iowa. I primarily utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and existential therapy. I work with people of all ages, but primarily focused on adults. I come from a trauma-based perspective and believe that all treatment must first start with a supportive, non-judgemental, genuine environment built together. I think that everyone deserves to have a chance to heal and love walking alongside peoples journey
